Companies are being encouraged to widen their pool of non-executive
directors, to diversify the collective talent around the board table, and to go outside
the normal pool of likely candidates. Companies can gain valuable expertise by tapping
into the university and public research sectors.
B-HERT is establishing
a register of academic and research staff from universities
and public sector research organisations, engineers and ICT
professionals who are interested in becoming corporate directors.
If
you are interested you can register
on-line. Registration is free.
Once you are registered, your details will be made available to companies and search firms who are seeking board members.
Companies and search firms are able to access this register and follow-up with individuals whom they see as potentially suitable. These organisations do not get direct access to the Register. They specify to B-HERT the characteristics of the person they are looking for and B-HERT then provides details of appropriate candidates.
B-HERT plays no further role in the matter, except as a courtesy to advise you that your details have been passed to an organisation. To preserve the privacy of the searching organisation, we are unable to provide you with any specific information about the search request. It is up to the searching organisation to contact you direct if they wish to progress the matter further.
We only ask you if you do join a company board to advise B-HERT so the Register can be updated and a statistical record maintained.
The Register is an internet-based service which gives you complete control
over your profile. Your profile can be updated at any time by accessing the register using
your password. You can also easily remove your profile from the Register.
